Certain Federal and State programs require review for certain
criminal history. If you are an applicant for such a program, you
will be advised of the history sought, a request for your consent
to run such a background check, and the opportunity to withdraw the
rental application if you object to such criminal background check.
Additionally, while the criminal background may be obtained at the
same time as the rental and credit check, the conviction history,
if any, will not be utilized in the application process until it is
first determined whether 1) the applicant is legally eligible to
rent the housing unit; and 2) that the applicant is qualified to
rent the housing unit under criteria for assessing rental history
and credit history.
